We have all been taught that fundraisers are a necessary evil that we have to endure. After all, it’s not fun begging people to support something that you’re doing, especially if they are people who don’t understand youth ministry and teenagers in the first place. But even if all that is true there is no reason we can’t change the rules and have a little fun raising money for San Antonio 2011!
Here are some ideas to help get you sta rted:
Silent Auction
Rent-A-Student
Raffles
Pancake Breakfast
Dinner Theater
After Church Spaghetti Lunch
After Church To-Go Lunches
Loose Change Offering
Car Wash
Talent Show
Recycling
Garage Sale
Or for the more tech savvy churches and E-Bay Sale!
You probably have people in your congregation who’ve heard of but don’t know how to buy or sell anything on this popular website. Organizing a youth group eBay sale is one way to get these folks informed and involved. Some of your teenagers could direct this project or perhaps a few adults who are veterans with the online service. Invite people from your church to bring in items that can be photographed and catalogued. Set up your payment service, post the items on eBay, and use this to fund youth ministry efforts.
